NEIL SQUARED: A Tribute to Neil Young and Neil Diamond
May 31 @ 7:30 pm

Neil Squared is a stunning 80 minute tribute to both Neil Young and Neil Diamond by award winning singer/songwriter Kenny Byrka.

Largely influenced by the sounds of the 70’s, award winning singer/songwriter Kenny Byrka has taken the works from two of his favourite artists who began their magnanimous careers during this era and developed a stunning 80 minute tribute to both Neil Young and Neil Diamond. The contrast between the two from a vocal and writing perspective is obvious, yet Kenny emulates both with precision, character and creative parameters, fuelled by his multi-instrumental abilities and diverse vocal range. Neil Squared is a collection of the classic songs from each artist, assembled for your enjoyment and to celebration the richness of words and music from two musical legends.

Jun 22 @ 7:30 pm

Céad Míle Fáilte! – “A Hundred Thousand Welcomes”

The Caledonian Orchestra of Nova Scotia is a performance group eager to bring the traditional sounds of ‘Old Scotland’ to your community. Lively marches, strathspeys, jigs, reels, laments and waltzes make up the extensive repertoire of the orchestra.

One of the many features in the Caledonia Orchestra Show is the amazing fiddler/dancer duo performed by Maritime Marionettes. Strings are the popular theme, as the string puppets spring to life with the music of fiddler Amelia Parker and guitarist Skip Holmes.

The Orchestra will perform under the direction of Mr. Nelson Ferguson. Special guest artists will be Retake, a female barbershop quartet based in P.E.I. Also joining us will be the Caledonian Show Dancers under the direction of Ms. Brenda MacKay.

If you enjoy great toe-tapping music, beautiful vocal performances and exciting Scottish dancing, don’t miss this event. We’d love to have you join us!

NUA is an innovative, award-winning, Toronto-based trad trio. Bringing a fresh and unique sound to traditional music, they create their own distinctive original compositions, balanced with traditional and contemporary tunes drawn from Irish and Scottish traditions.

NUA consists of three award-winning members: fiddle player James Law, guitarist Graeme McGillivray and bodhrán player Jacob McCauley. The interaction between the three is what really makes the music shine, whether it be their soaring melodies or tasteful grooves.

*Duncan Draper was trained as a jazz piano player at the Berklee College of Music in California. He was a consummate musician, equally comfortable playing jazz, samba, rock, traditional Irish and Scottish music, folk and bluegrass on a wide variety of instruments. He was always inspiring, supportive and encouraging towards musicians and was there to contribute his musical talents when asked and/or needed, whether it was a musical fundraiser, performance or a session.
