BIZET’S CARMEN – Met Opera
Mar 16 @ 2:00 pm

Mezzo-soprano Clémentine Margaine reprises her remarkable portrayal of opera’s ultimate seductress, a triumph in her 2017 debut performances, with impassioned tenors Yonghoon Lee and Roberto Alagna as her lover, Don José. Omer Meir Wellber and Louis Langrée share conducting duties for Sir Richard Eyre’s powerful production, a Met favorite since its 2009 premiere.

The opera takes place in and around Seville, a city that, by the time Carmen was written, had already served many operatic composers as an exotic setting conducive to erotic intrigues and turmoil (Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, among others). The hometown of Don Juan, the city also inspired Mozart with Don Giovanni, and Beethoven used Seville as the setting for a study of marital fidelity in Fidelio.

  • Sung In French, Met titles in English

British comedian James Mullinger has taken Canada by storm. Sold out shows across the country, appearances on CBC’s The Debaters, movies, TV shows, festivals, awards, magazines, stand up specials – since moving to Atlantic Canada four years ago he’s done it all.

James tours extensively to packed houses across Canada and England. 42nd STREET – Broadway Musical
Jul 7 @ 7:00 pm

The Legendary Broadway Production in HD

One of Broadway’s most classic and beloved tales, 42nd Street, comes to the big screen in the largest ever production of the show. The musical tells the story of Peggy Sawyer, a talented young performer with stars in her eyes who gets her big break on Broadway.

Peggy arrives to New York City from her hometown of Allentown, Pennsylvania and her talent catches the eye of legendary Broadway director Julian Marsh. She gets a spot in the chorus of Pretty Lady. Dorothy Brock, the classic Broadway diva and star of the show, takes a dislike to the new girl. When Dorothy is injured, Pretty Lady looks like it will have to close, unless a new girl talented enough to lead the show can be found — someone like Peggy Sawyer!

Filmed at London’s Theatre Royal the production is directed by the original author of the show, Mark Bramble. This eye-watering extravaganza is full of crowd-pleasing tap dances, popular musical theatre standards, and show-stopping ensemble production numbers.

KINKY BOOTS – Broadway Musical
Aug 31 @ 7:00 pm

KINKY BOOTS The Broadway Musical in HD

Filmed at the Adelphi Theatre in London, Kinky Boots the Tony, Grammy & Olivier Award-winning musical from pop icon Cyndi Lauper and legendary playwright Harvey Fierstein, directed and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell and based on the film written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, hits the big screen.

Inspired by true events, this huge-hearted hit tells the story of two people with nothing in common – or so they think. Charlie (played by Olivier Award nominee Killian Donnelly) is a factory owner struggling to save his family business, and Lola (played by Matt Henry, who won an Olivier Award for the role) is a fabulous entertainer with a wildly exciting idea. With a little compassion and a lot of understanding, this unexpected pair learn to embrace their differences and create a line of sturdy stilettos unlike any the world has ever seen! But in the end, their most sensational achievement is their friendship.
