British comedian James Mullinger has taken Canada by storm. Sold out shows across the country, appearances on CBC’s The Debaters, movies, TV shows, festivals, awards, magazines, stand up specials – since moving to Atlantic Canada four years ago he’s done it all.
James tours extensively to packed houses across Canada and England. A big budget movie had been made about his early years in stand up (starring actors from Twilight, Downton Abbey and Notting Hill and comedians such as Jimmy Carr, Gilbert Gottfried, Mike Ward and Pete Zedlacher). It was described by NME as the “funniest film of the year,” “unmissable” by GQ Magazine and “essential viewing. A funny, realistic look at what it takes to become a stand up comedian,” by the Montreal Times. Watch the trailer here.
James is one of the Canada’s biggest cheerleaders. He loves it here and spends his time promoting it across the world and raising money for charities and non-profits. James has raised more than $100,000 for Canadian charities. He has also become one of Canada’s top comics, being nominated for both a Just For Laughs comedy award and a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Live Show.

King’s Theatre is thrilled to present the internationally acclaimed vaudevillian performer TOMÁŠ KUBÍNEK. Magician, mime, illusionist, theatrical stuntman, Tomáš Kubínek makes his audiences laugh out of sheer wonder and delight. He follows a noble tradition of physical comedy.
A collision of theatre and music-hall, his exuberant one-man show is equal parts comic brilliance, virtuosic vaudeville and irresistible charm. He’s known as a COMIC GENIUS, VIRTUOSO VAUDEVILLIAN, and all-round charmer who gives audiences an utterly joyous experience they’ll remember for a lifetime.
After a sold-out run on Broadway, The New York Times lauded his work as “Absolutely expert!
His latest creation, TOMÁŠ KUBÍNEK – MIRACLE MAN, is a rip-roaring revival of strong-man stunts, couples-counseling, snake-healings, and mass-hypnosis that leaves audiences dazed, beaming and in love with life once again.
*The performance, intended for an adult audience, is an utterly original mix of comedy, circus, and vaudeville, this is unlike anything you have ever seen at King’s Theatre. TOMÁŠ KUBÍNEK is a phenomenon not to be missed.*
“Masterfully played comedy…That secret mixture of DARING, TALENT, AND UTTER FOOLISHNESS…” – Santa Fe Reporter
“HILARIOUS and enormously talented.” -TimeOut, London
“The audience sits transfixed, gleefully awaiting each new moment of MAD BRILLIANCE.”
— Badische Zeitung, Germany
Tomáš Kubínek was born in Prague and at the age of 3 was smuggled out of the country by his parents to escape the 1968 Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. After two months in a refugee camp in Austria, the Kubínek family was granted asylum in Canada and it was there, in St. Catharines, Ontario, that Tomáš, age 5, witnessed his first circus. He became passionately interested in clowns, circus, theater and magic and his perplexed yet well-adjusted parents took him to see every show that passed through town. At age 9 he presented his first performance before a circle of elderly magicians. By age 13 he had an agent. He performed in coffee-houses between folk-music acts and while still in his teens, he made his circus debut with a Brazilian clown duo as the rear half of a two-person horse. His tireless experiments in the art of live performance led to the creation of his award-winning solo stage shows which play to capacity crowds at theaters, international arts festivals, and in television broadcasts throughout the world.

Leonardo da Vinci as you’ve never seen him before
Leonardo da Vinci is acclaimed as the world’s favourite artist. Many TV shows and feature films have showcased this extraordinary genius but often not examined closely enough is the most crucial element of all: his art. Leonardo’s peerless paintings and drawings will be the focus of Leonardo: The Works, as EXHIBITION ON SCREEN presents every single attributed painting, in Ultra HD quality, never seen before on the big screen. Key works include The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Lady with an Ermine, Ginevra de’ Benci, Madonna Litta, Virgin of the Rocks, and more than a dozen others.
This film also looks afresh at Leonardo’s life – his inventiveness, his sculptural skills, his military foresight and his ability to navigate the treacherous politics of the day – through the prism of his art. To be released on the 500th anniversary of his death, this is the definitive film about Leonardo: the first to truly tell the whole story.
