LYNNEA ROSE is charming her way into the hearts of folk, Celtic and country fans alike. Since the release of her debut album “Lynnea Rose” in 2013, she has graced audiences all across Canada, sharing with them her beautiful voice, heartfelt songwriting and genuine stage presence. Born and raised in Granville Beach, Nova Scotia as an eighth generation Armstrong, it’s easy to hear where her musical inspirations lie. Her deep connection to her Celtic heritage and East Coast is clearly evident in songs like “Fundy Shore”, “Where I am From” and “Bad Winter”. Stylistically, Lynnea Rose has been compared to Alison Krauss and The Rankins, with her song-writing remeniscent of Sarah Harmer and Gillian Welch.
Nearly 4 years after the release of ‘City Ghosts’, THE MODERN GRASS are back on the scene with their fourth studio album, ‘Payday’. Produced by award winning duo Tom Terrell and Karl Falkenham, Payday is an homage to the simplicity and modesty of traditional music and living, Modern Grass style. This colorful and polarized collection of original and traditional songs taps into the rich vein of North American roots music, songwriting and musicianship. Payday features a special cast of guest musicians, curated not only for their sounds but for their critical places in the lineage of roots music.
Payday, as per usual for the MG, is paradoxical. Featuring Terrell’s clever and down home songwriting as well as unique renditions and twisted interpretations of folk, country, gospel, blues and old time classics. While the genre seemingly remains in flux, the MG paints a coherent, vibrant picture that is everything we’ve come to expect from the grass, and more. The latest incarnation of the Modern Grass features original members Tom Terrell, Andrew Sneddon & Adam Pye and debuts the fine banjo picking of Nova Scotia native, Ryan Dillman. With musical guests Brittany Haas, Joe Walsh, John Reischman, Donald Maclennan & Ray Legere.

An exploration of the life, lessons, and legacy of iconic children’s television host, Fred Rogers. The sleeper hit of the season is a likely documentary Oscar contender and has been called one of the best documentaries ever made.
One movie you want to experience in a theater full of strangers is “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?”, Morgan Neville’s documentary about the late, great PBS children’s show host Fred Rogers. As people spread the word, this Focus Features movie about the benevolent piano-playing puppeteer host of “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” (1968-2001), a show for children about how to build a neighborhood and live together in society, follows sleeper Ruth Bader Ginsberg biodoc “RBG” as a movie that shows us what a hero looks like.

A CELTIC CHRISTMAS
From Winnipeg, Lizzy Hoyt is an award-winning songwriter who delivers music with soaring melodies that are rooted in Celtic and folk traditions. Not only does she have a gorgeous voice, but she’s a master of the fiddle, guitar, and harp… and she step dances too! Her Christmas concert of ancient carols brings a Celtic flavour to the season.
Lizzy Hoyt is one of Canada’s most powerful Celtic-folk artists. Known for bringing Canadian history to life with music, her songs like “Vimy Ridge”, “White Feather”, and “New Lady on the Prairie” have garnered awards and nominations while also connecting strongly with audiences across the country. In 2013, Lizzy was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada for her outstanding contribution to commemorating Canadian veterans and history through music.
A talented multi-instrumentalist, Lizzy toured for ten years as a side musician before pursuing her own projects. She has been praised for her mastery of the fiddle, guitar and harp by the Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Penguin Eggs, Bluegrass Unlimited, Star News, and more. CBC’s Chris Della Torre calls her “a musician’s musician” and notes “fans that want their artists to play well can find that with [her]”. In addition to this praise, her voice has been described as “otherworldly”, “angelic”, “sweet”, and “pure” and as a singer, she has been recognized for her clarity and precision.
Lizzy is a full-time musician who travels and tours throughout Canada during the year with her trio. She has performed at renowned folk festivals (Edmonton Folk Festival, Montreal Folk Festival, Goderich Celtic Roots Festivals), folk clubs (Calgary Folk Club, Nickelodeon Folk Club, Northern Lights Folk Club) and through performing arts networks across the country. Throughout her career, she has released four independent albums and two music videos.
