Program Two presents a standout collection of works from new age to contemporary classic which includes a FODAR all-time favourite Dancing in the Third Act.  The collection also marks the World premiere of Lydia Zimmer’s haunting and mystical solo piece. Zimmer builds on a movement language explored in her recent choreographed work “Extremophiles” produced during the Staging the Screen Creation Intensive, hosted by Mocean Dance.  Philip McDermott also performs in a FODAR remount of David Earle’s iconic work Yesterday.

Dancing in the Third Act

FODAR brings back the production that started it all. The Company of Angels returns in Dancing in the Third Act (2013). The work runs on all four nights in both Program 1 and 2. Choreographed by Randy Glynn, this powerful and thoroughly engaging work was a hit with critics and audiences alike and toured to other Canadian dance festivals.  Working with dancers ranging in age from 65 to 80+, Glynn has created a visually dynamic full-length work that is a poignant, dramatic and whimsical look at the ups and downs (literally) of aging.

Home to the only major summer contemporary dance festival in Atlantic Canada, Festival of Dance Annapolis Royal (FODAR) is ranked as one of the major dance festivals in the country. Back for its seventh season, FODAR is live on stage showcasing classics of the past and current directions in live contemporary dance performed by some of this country’s finest artists.
