Student film by John Hill
John Stephen Hill is an AWEC student and an aspiring young filmmaker from Annapolis Royal who has created an 18-minute documentary. This is his first film, and he will be present for an audience Q&A.
“When I read about the centenary of King’s Theatre I thought ‘why not do a documentary about this?’ As an aspiring cineaste, I wanted to do something people would actually be interested I’m seeing about something which is arguably esoteric, celebration of a theatre. The disadvantages I had to overcome were threefold, firstly I was only sixteen, secondly I had no experience whatsoever of making movies, (at that time I did not even own a phone that could record video), and thirdly I had nobody around to, as it were, show me the ropes. Because of this, it took me a long time to complete my documentary, only eighteen minutes on the screen but very many hours in the making.” — John Stephen Hill
